About this Blog

Momfidence! cheers on commonsense parenting and sighs at the rest. How to worry less, wing it more. A.k.a. parenting by the seat of my mid-rise mom jeans.

This Week's Lighten-Up-and-Eat-a-Cookie Award

May 05, 2008
It's not the most outrageous Lighten-Up-and-Eat-a-Cookie Parenting Award I've given out, but nevertheless falls in the Highly Annoying category: To these words from a book called Building Better Families: A Practical Guide to Raising Amazing Children.

Now, full disclosure, i haven't read the book or so much as held it in my hand. but I read this quote from the book in this review (ironically titled "Parenting Book Offers Words of Comfort" :

"If it [raising a child] was the only thing you had to do, you would still not have enough time to do it to the best of your abilities."

Words of comfort? Puts me in panic mode. I think most people parent to the best of their abilities in the time they have, and it works out just fine.
