The Truth About GiftednessAugust 22, 2008
Hard as it is to believe, the vast majority of today's bright, stimulated young children are not gifted. That's the theme of a piece I wrote in the Sept. Parenting. (It's also up at CNN.com.) Laura Vanderkaam, author of Genius Denied: How to Stop Wasting Our Brightest Minds wrote about it in her blog "The Gifted Exchange" today.
If you DO happen to have one of those 2-5 percent of children who are truly academically gifted -- or if you are simply interested in the subject of great education for all kids (who are all special, if not all gifted), then I recommend her insightful blog to you. |
